Maxi Svensson Debuts with a Personal Art Book

Publisher Max Ström releases a deeply personal book by watercolor artist Maximilian “Maxi” Svensson. In a story that moves between anxiety and creative force, the book portrays how painting became a place of survival, and how a young artistic voice took shape through color, water, and an unwavering presence.

Maxi Svensson and Avicii for a Better Hope

Maxi Svensson participated in the charity initiative Avicii for a Better Hope, a project connected to the Tim Bergling Foundation that aims to raise awareness around mental health and inspire hope through creativity. Through his art, Maxi contributed to the message that creativity and expression can be powerful ways to navigate difficult emotions and experiences.

By taking part in the initiative, Maxi joined a group of artists and creators using their work to support an important cause. His paintings helped communicate the values behind the project—hope, openness, and the importance of caring for mental well-being—while showing how art can bring people together around meaningful issues.

Artist of the Year for the Heart-Lung Foundation 2022–2023

Last year’s calendar featuring Lasse Åberg was very well received. Of course, he was already a beloved public figure, something this year’s artist, Maximilian Svensson, has not yet had time to become. He is only 16 years old. Despite that, he is already a fully accomplished watercolor artist – and we are very proud to present him here.

Maxi Svensson’s Solo Exhibition in Åland

Maxi Svensson held a highly successful solo exhibition at the Åland Art Museum, becoming one of the youngest artists ever to exhibit there. The exhibition attracted a large audience and was widely appreciated by visitors and critics alike, quickly turning into a public success.

Visitors praised the emotional depth and technical skill of his watercolor paintings, many remarking on the remarkable maturity of such a young artist. The exhibition featured works inspired by nature, animals, and the Nordic landscape, and many pieces resonated strongly with the audience.

For many, the exhibition was a memorable experience and marked an important moment in Svensson’s early career, highlighting a young artist whose work had already begun to capture significant public attention.

Sandgrund, Karlstad

My idol Lars Lerin heard about my first vernissage in Stockholm and can you believe it - he reached out to my parents and asked if I wanted to do an exhibition at his own gallery, one of Swedens finest! It was an amazing experience I will never forget.

Since 1912, Majblomman has invited different artists to create a poster to be distributed widely.

Carl Larsson created the very first contribution, and since then the poster has taken many different forms. Brita Eek and Olle Skrede were behind several of the early posters. Lena Andersson, Cecilia Torudd, Lasse Åberg, Caroline af Ugglas, Ernst Billgren and Kent Wisti are some of the artists who have contributed during the 2000s.

In 2018, it was decided that the poster would instead be created by artists under the age of 18, and I was given the honor of that assignment. The poster was printed and distributed widely and sold very well.

My first vernissage ever, in Stockholm

When I was 11, I had already dreamed for several years about having my own vernissage. I had so many paintings I wanted to show, and one day I finally got the opportunity to use a beautiful, large space at No18 in central Stockholm. It was incredible. Hundreds of people came, and some had even driven for hours just to see my art. It was a fantastic experience and made me even more determined to keep painting and share my work with the world.
